Business & Employment Fair
Prepare to attend NEXT YEAR!
Created by the Maryland Aviation Administration to formulate economic SYNERGY between BWI Marshall and its community.

This event holds true to the synergy concept, that the value and performance of companies combined is greater than the value of them separately. Synergy responds to major issues small and minority-owned businesses face most often in airport-related procurement. This networking opportunity presents such access to decision makers, current prime contractors and subcontractors, and the need for forecast information on the direction of the airport.

The event will feature a series of morning information sessions for aspiring entrepreneurs and seasoned business professionals on state business certifications, preparing for bids, agency forecasts, and one-on-one matchmaking sessions and much more!

Don’t forget to bring your business cards and network!

The afternoon is dedicated to the Synergy Employment Fair. The fair presents a unique opportunity for prospective employees to meet with employers and attend information sessions on the power of social media, interview skills and available career services. Maryland Aviation Administration, Maryland Workforce Exchange, and AirMall will be among the many employers on-site to meet with prospective employees. Dress for success and bring plenty of resumes.

Prepare by:

  • Dress Professionally.
  • Update and bring plenty of resumes.
  • Research companies that are attending the event.
  • Practice your pitch. Share your experience and why you’re the best candidate.
  • Attend the Synergy Employment Fair and land your dream job!

You landed an interview. Now, Let’s Win the Job! 1. Have you walked out of a job interview feeling disappointed about your performance? OR 2. Have you ever thought you interviewed well, but did not receive a call back? 3. Do you want to greatly improve your interviewing skills to win the job? While many organizations have adopted behavior-based interviewing as a better way of predicting if a candidate is going to be a technical success on the job and a good fit in the environment, many job candidates have “No Clue” how to successfully respond to this style of interviewing. This workshop will give participants the 5 Keys to successful interviewing: 1. Understanding the hiring manager’s mission in Behavior-based Interviewing; 2. Knowing what to expect; 3. Successfully preparing for the interview; 4. Effectively communicating S.T.A.R answers to each interview question, and; 5. Utilizing key interviewing strategies.
How to Maximize Social Media and Avoid the Pitfalls? Many of us have a Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and/or Google account. But, do you know: “How to effectively utilize these accounts to help you land your next job?” or “How your social-media presence can weed you out of a desired job without you even knowing it?” Since social-media has become so prevalent in our lives and can be such a powerful tool (both good and bad) in our job search, it’s important to learn how to put your social media to work in helping you land that next job. This workshop will teach participants: 1. Why social-media is important to today’s job search; 2. How to create a positive social-media persona; 3. How to increase one’s internet visibility; 4. How to use social-media to network; 5. The unwritten rules of social-media; 6. What social-media dangers to avoid.
